Growing greens, feeding families

Food gardens are part of everyday life in this area, providing food for families without regular employment. Pastos Verdes grows vegetables and breeds poultry to help feed the children's home and those in need in our community, helping to alleviate hunger and malnutrition. Some families use the land to grow their own crops, while others are given occasional employment to tend the food garden. The maize mill blesses the local community by being used at cost price, milling their maize corn into flour used to make their staple diet of xima.
